Fairchild Air Force Base operates under the control of Air Mobility Command (AMC) and is home to numerous units and missions. Most prominent is its air refueling mission, the 92d Air Refueling Wing and the 141st Air Refueling Wing, which both fly the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker. At 2,463 feet above sea level, the base and covers approximately 4,300 acres of majestic high plains. Yakima Training Center
Located in central Washington State, Joint Base Lewis McChord's Yakima Training Center is roughly 160 miles southeast of JBLM. The base measures about 25 miles in length and width and hosts realistic combined arms, joint, and coalition forces training for U.S. and allied military groups. Joint Base Lewis McChord often uses the facility for maneuver and live fire training. Similarly, the base's rough terrain and size makes it an ideal place for military individuals to train in support of STRYKER units. Vagabond Army Airfield is also located on the base. Real estate on the base ranges in price from houses in the double digits to houses in the mid-triple digits. A select number of condominiums are also available within the area.
Whidbey Island NAS
Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is comprises a total of two bases located five miles apart. These are the original Seaplane Base on the eastern shore of Whidbey Island and Ault Field, which is on the western shore of the island. The largest island in the continental United States, Whidbey is approximately 64 miles long. What's more, it is also the largest naval installation in the Pacific Northwest, often having as many as 7,600 military men and women assigned there at a time.
Naval Base Kitsap
Naval Station Bremerton and Naval Submarine Base Bangor have recently joined forces and are now known simply as Naval Base Kitsap. The base is composed of installations at the locations of Bremerton, Bangor, and Keyport, WA., and it is home to the Navy's West Coast center of excellence for nine Trident submarines, two guided-missile submarines, two fast-attack submarines and the USS Jimmy Carter. Bremerton Annex is home the USS John C. Stennis and also became home to the USS Kitty Hawk in 2008, which is the final diesel carrier within the fleet of the Navy. The base maintains, repairs, and works to modernize all ships and submarines of the fleet, though it concentrates most specifically on nuclear propelled vessels. The Bangor location is also a training and support facility for all things "Trident".
Everett Naval Station
Naval Station Everett, otherwise known as NAVSTA Everett, is the most modern of the United States Navy's numerous stations. 25 miles north of Seattle, this station can be found next to the marina area of Everett, WA on the northeast side of Puget Sound. The facility was originally created as a homeport for a U.S. Navy Carrier Strike Group. NS Everett currently houses to two destroyers, three frigates, one nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, and a Coast Guard buoy tender. Real estate within the area ranges from small condominiums available for purchase through an agent to affordable houses to rent or to purchase.
Coast Guard Bellingham
This particular Coast Guard Station Bellingham operates under the USCG Sector Field Office, which is located nearby in Port Angeles, roughly 120 miles southwest of this Bellingham station. As the northern-most station in the district, Station Bellingham's area of responsibility includes the San Juan Islands, the location where most Search and Rescue (SAR) cases occur. With its nearness to Canada, Station Bellingham also participates in dual SAR and LE (Law Enforcement) cases and as a result has an outstanding working relationship internationally.
Coast Guard Port Angeles
Sector Field Office Port Angeles is the US Coast Guard's oldest operational air station. Since Port Angeles is a port city that includes ferries to Canada, soldiers and their family enjoy prime off-time travel. Both the Strait of Juan De Fuca as well as the North Western coast of Washington beginning at the Olympic Peninsula and ending at the mouth of Puget Sound are located within this station's area of operation. The unit's mission is Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Aids to Navigation, and Marine Environmental Protection.
Coast Guard Seattle
The Coast Guard Seattle station is a subordinate command center of the USCG Sector Puget Sound. Homeland Security within Puget Sound is this station's chief objective. Because of this, Station Seattle provides a range of services including harbor patrols to the entirety of the Puget Sound as well as Naval and commercial vessel escorts. However, Station personnel maintain numerous other missions as well such as providing aids to navigation, marine environmental protection, and local public relations.
